Both of these books, filled with all the intrigue, romance, and action of any modern-day screen play, have been heralded for their literary value for centuries. But this is not their most rewarding feature. God's use of these two faithful women brings a new understanding of God's faithfulness and the importance of our faithful participation.

Esther in the Septuagint
As with all of Chuck's studies I found it to be very enlightening. However, as Chuck refers to the Septuagint translations in his talks I was surprised to note he did not mention it in the study of Esther.

The non-catholic appellations of the Septuagint do have the word "Lord (36x)" and "prayer(3x)". I would have like to have compared it to the Dead Sea Scrolls but Esther has not been found among them. Even though about 65,000 fragments have yet to be cataloged there is always hope.

A study of why discrepancy exists would be very interesting.

Ruth & Esther
What a wonderful study of these two books. An eye opening lecture of how Ruth, Naomi and Boaz Symbolize a relationship that wasn't taught in Sunday School class when I was growing up.

Esther, yet another celebration of how women impact the world. Yes, this book belongs in the Bible.
